History of the Gold Country Classic

The Gold Country Classic has been a well established  boy's gymnastics competition in Northern California since 1988. It originally started at my gym, G-FORCE Gymnastics Academy, in Rancho Cordova California as a fund raiser for my booster club. I then took it with me to four other clubs that I have worked at since closing my gym.

Due to the increasing popularity of this competition, and long waiting lists of gyms wishing to enter, in 2002 I started looking for a larger facility to host the GCC. Even though I found a several large potential facilities to host this competition, I continued to looking for a site that would attract clubs from around the country and possibly the world. In 2005 I was presented with such a facility with San Francisco's historic Fort Mason's "Herbst Pavilion" in the Fisherman's Wharf area of San Francisco. To help the GCC become an even bigger attraction in 2006, I added women's gymnastics to the GCC.

The GCC is currently staffed by Impact Sports Center and many other volunteers. The combination of a well experienced staff, an ideal location, and an excellent facility makes the GCC a unique first class gymnastics event. I hope to see your club join the fun at this year's 21st annual GCC.
