History
The GCC has been a well established men's gymnastics competition in Northern California since 1988. The GCC is the oldest continual men's gymnastics competition in Northern California. I originally started this competition at a gym that I founded, the G-FORCE Gymnastics Academy in Rancho Cordova, California. G-FORCE was literally built on the left over remains from a gold mining technique called “Placer Mining”. I therefore named my gymnastics competition the Gold Country Classic.
I have kept the name over years because of it's widely known "name recognition" attributes as a high quality competition. I have also found the name appropriate for anywhere in Northern California where I direct this competition since the 1850's Gold Rush built up and populated all areas of this region.
Over the years the GCC has grown from an "in house" men's competition to a co-ed international competition held at large 1st rate venues. In 2007 NCAA Men's competition were added when the GCC hosted the All-Academy Championships (Army vs. Navy vs. Air Force). In 2009 I started hosting a competition between CAL Berkeley and Stanford's Men's teams. Other elite level teams that have competed in the GCC include the Canadian and Norwegian Men's Senior and Junior National Teams.
The GCC is currently staffed by parents of gymnasts from Classic Gymnastics from Tracy California as well as other volunteers. The combination of a long history of directing competitions (also including several State and Regional Championships), as well as an experienced staff and ideal location and facility, makes the GCC a memorable and unique first rate gymnastics event for all those who participate and/or spectate.
My motivation and efforts to produce and direct this event has always been to provide gymnasts with a memorable, 1st rate and positive gymnastics competition experience with funds raised going directly toward supporting families with gymnasts. While attending this event you will not only experience a 1st rate gymnastics competition, but you will also be helping to support the dreams of many young gymnasts.
Cheers!
